Plans are already being made for the 25th reunion...
- Friday night at the Keg & Barrel was a good time - good food, good drink and most of all, good friends. Thanks to April for setting it up - the place was great and I think we all had a very good time.
- Saturday morning we presented our class gift to Connie Wood and the CHS Drama Boosters on the front steps of the school. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to give $1,000 to the Boosters in memory of Ms. McKay and all the other teachers who have passed. Following the presentation of the class gift, we were treated to a personal tour of the school by Brad Ratcliff, Lead Teacher and Administrator at CHS. He showed us all of the renovations that have occured on the inside of the main building (you have to see it to believe it) as well as the new gym. Very impressive!
- After the tour, we went back over to City Park where we all gathered around and visited, ate some hot dogs and hamburgers (especially enjoying the Polk family's "casserole"), and tried to stay in the shade (Mona - how's that sunburn?). There were probably 35-40 classmates with their families at the cookout. Thanks to all those who helped set up and clean up - your service did not go unseen!
- Saturday evening we met at the Back Door Cafe for dinner (or at least, it was supposed to be dinner - sorry about that folks, limited selections in Columbia). The room upstairs served its purpose of giving us a meeting place - we visited some more, viewed a slideshow from all the pictures that you submitted to me, were able to look at yearbooks from high school and junior high (thanks to Lee and Mona) and shared in a special video provided by Chris and Dave. We gave away some door prizes and, most importantly, we have a new chairman (or chairperson - or, better yet, chairwoman) for the next reunion. Terri Johnson Miciello volunteered to chair the committee - so far consisting of Stacie, Peri and Greta (forgive me if I have excluded anyone). Their first decision was that the next reunion would be our 25th. They even threw out the idea that for the 25th we will have PROM all over again. Can't wait!!!
Thanks again to everyone for coming and making this weekend a very special time. For those of us who do not live close to Columbia or who no longer have family in town, reunion time is about the only excuse to come back "home" - so thanks to all for making it great. Thanks again to Lee, Mona and Donna for all the hard work setting up things for this weekend.
